My beautiful sister who is a wife and mother of 4 children ranging in ages from 3 y/o to 11 y/o just turned 39 on February 5th. With that milestone, came the devastating diagnosis of stage 4 colon cancer in its rarest and most aggressive form of Signet ring cell adenocarcinoma. The shock was something none of us expected. She has been battling ulcerative colitis for over a decade but cancer was something none of us thought possible. They have given her an estimated 2 years of life expectancy on chemo. There is no end in sight to the poisons they are dumping in her. They say she’s not making it out of this alive. Nik and her family are looking into other means of treatments because right now the idea is to keep her comfortable and happy...i.e. drugged. We are now looking into other doctors for as many opinions as we can get until something gets her into remission. She has shown improvement with the treatment she has received but the toll it has taken on her body is extreme. She is receiving three types of chemo every other week, one of which is a at home treatment that last two days. Every other week is terrible for her to the point she doesn’t want to get out of bed. The doctors say she is going to be on chemo for the remainder of her life. The medical cost and other expenses are adding up quickly. Between copays, prescriptions and the cost of going back and forth to the doctors office 3 times a week the bills are building. My niece and nephews are looking forward to mommy getting better and life going back to normal and aunt Candi going home. Any bit that you could give to help ease some of the financial burden during this trying time would be greatly appreciated.
