"There comes a time in everyone’s life where stuff just happens. It’s happened to all of us in some form or fashion, but life has really happened to my friend, Nikki.
Let me tell you about us, first. Nikki and I are the two most opposite people and the most unlikeliest of friends you could ever think of. I’m that country/rural, hippy chick in TX. She is the city, sophisticated glam girl that calls Vegas home. But what brought us together was our love of the Drum Horse. We both served as board members for the registry and maintained our friendship no matter our differences. Later, Nikki was one of only a small handful of people to keep me going as my husband fell ill from Parkinson’s and finally passed away. She is one of my very few friends – and that includes family – that stays in touch with me.
And now she needs my help. I’m not a person of means, but I can help her with this gofundme.
Nikki is usually the person who makes things happen. She heard about a young Haitian mother with a new born at the border and immediately went into action – finding formula, food (pallets!), clothes etc, for all those in need at the time. She speaks for women and their rights. She speaks for the LGBQT community. Her Toys For Tots party every years was a rousing success. I’ve never known her to sit back and wait for someone else to *do something. She just *did it.
Nikki is a mother too. She adopted her great niece when her niece was having a rough time. Family is very important to Nikki and she is like a mamma bear with that child. I’ve seen it.
Then along came COVID. She was one of the unlucky ones to contract not only the first round, so the most virulent, but also Longhaulers Covid. And she has been struggling. In and out of hospitals for the last few years has made work intermittent at best, but impossible for the most part. With no insurance, her doctor and hospital bills are beginning to pile up. And now, she needs surgery next week to remove multiple fibroids. The surgery date is set and we are excited about that.
Funding will go to immediate needs; she is in danger of losing her rental house as she is way behind on rent due to her being unable to work. Her landlord has been very kind in the past, but he also needs to eat and is now asking for all his back rent in order for her to maintain her rental status. We just heard about this yesterday. Funding will also go for basic living needs such as groceries and electricity whilst she recuperates. But the majority of the funding will be going to her outstanding medical bills."Rebecca Mckeever
“Nikki is a part of the extended Adams’ family , my best friend for 20+ years, and is Jaelyns mom who Neal Adams regarded as one of his grandchildren. She fell sick with Covid 3-21-2020 and hasn’t fully recovered at present she has multiple health issues some requiring surgical intervention. The most recent issue will require quite a bit of recovery time. She will stay with me until she’s able to return home. Please help out she has suffered months upon months of economic loss caused by these ailments and she truly needs our help to be able to keep her home and recover peacefully “ Joel Adams
“My mom has done a lot for people of all walks of life. Including starting pages for others like this one. She cooks for the homeless and or serves them at holidays. She keeps an open door for people who may not have family to spend holidays with. She buys toys for kids she doesn’t know at Christmas.I know her well enough to know that her work here on earth to make it better for people and animals and the planet isn’t close to done. I appreciate so much anyone sharing and supporting. She’s been sick for 3 years and doesn’t like to ask for help. After paying it forward for years I hope you all will consider lending a hand “
