Just weeks ago, our dearest friend and family member Niki was diagnosed with stage 1 breast cancer. Niki has a fantastic team of doctors who have moved quickly to diagnose and get a plan of action in place to attack this.
What’s next? Niki has already begun a year long journey to beat this. Last week she started the first of 6 rounds of chemo, and will continue every 3 weeks. These drug infusions have presented several severe side effects and have been very taxing on her body. Once chemo is complete, she will undergo surgery, followed by another 6 months of more targeted treatments. And then likely 5-10 years of medication.
While we can’t take away the pain Niki is experiencing right now, we can help ease the burden of “life” that continues to go on around her.
First, we all know, no matter how excellent one’s insurance, out-of-pocket costs frequently arise and quickly accumulate during this kind of medical journey.
