MISSION STATEMENT
NIGHTRUNNER is a short film written, directed, and produced by Sebastian Anderson under the BA thesis program at Emerson College.
NIGHTRUNNER is a surreal, satirical horror about a woman who runs all night instead of sleeping. It follows Margot, a mother whose nights have been taken over by an unknown force. Her son, Anthony, has grown suspicious of her frequent expeditions. There's also her husband, Grant. He's not very helpful.
In making this film, we seek to explore the problems of the domestic sphere and social atomization through a twisted, surreal lens. Filmmaking, in our view, is most powerful when the most complex topics can be thoroughly addressed without relying on language.
BUDGET BREAKDOWN
Craft Services - $800
- The most important part of any production is taking care of the cast/crew. This part of the budget will go to food/supplies for our team.
Location Budget - $1,600
- Our required location is an Airbnb. We found the perfect location, and this section of the budget will go towards a weekend-long rental.
Cast/Crew Compensation - $1,500
- Working with a blended team of friends and professionals, we will require funds to properly compensate certain members of our cast/crew.
Miscellaneous Production Design/Costume Needs - $300
- Much of our PD will be sourced for free with Emerson's resources, but we will still need reserves to give our art team creative freedom.
Post Production and Release -$800
- Additional funds to carry us through editing, color, and any potential VFX work. This will let us make the most polished film possible.
