On Sunday, while we were on our morning walk with our dog, our cat, Nigel was attacked by a large dog in front of the next door neighbor's house. We received a call from a neighbor and got home to find our cat missing a third of his fur. We rushed him to the emergency vet and went home to wait for a call.
He was stable. He had 2 broken ribs, one dislocated rib, a broken sternum and possibly a damaged diaphragm. But he was stable.
With great relief, we continued to approve estimates for our beloved cat. We started to plan where he would recover in our house and how we could create a catio for him. Tuesday morning, we got a call that he was starting to decline. He was becoming septic. My husband left work immediately so we could say goodbye before euthanizing him. He died purring in my lap.
They ran our card again and we went home.
Nigel was the best cat I have ever known. It doesn't feel real that he is gone. The absence of him is everywhere.
I understand that many people are struggling during these challenging times. I ask that if you are moved to and able to, please consider donating to our GoFundMe. If you are able to, but are not moved by this particular GoFundMe, please donate to someone else, in Nigel's honor. #NigelLivedHisBestLife

I thank you for taking the time to read this campaign. I recently left my job after the birth of my son so I could care for him. The burden of this has all been on my husband, who spent his entire paycheck today to pay the balance of our bill. If you are unable to donate, please consider sharing.
