Nigel Turner’s Memorial Fund

Nigel Turner lost his life late Thursday, August 1st following a long battle with depression.  He leaves behind his wife, Lesley and twin daughters, Eden and Sarina, age 10. He is also survived by his sister, Joy, brother-in-law’, Peter and their wonderful children, Melanie, Nikki, Michelle and Carl.

Nigel was born in Stockport, England and came to America after serving as an officer in the British Army commanding a helicopter squadron.

He started HeliUSA Airways in 1989  being one of the first to commence helicopter tour operations from Las Vegas to the west rim of the Grand Canyon.  His success there led to additional operations in Kauai and Oahu, Hawaii as well as a guest and cattle ranch, Grand Canyon
Ranch (now known as Grand Canyon Western Ranch).

Life changed suddenly however after a ski accident in Aspen in 2005.  Multiple fractures in his left leg caused continual pain with a deep depression following soon after. Nigel struggled with depression for many years after that, eventually rediscovering joy after the birth of his daughters, Eden and Sarina in 2009.

In the years that followed, he and his family celebrated many wonderful times with friends. Christmas parties, birthday parties at the Ranch, sail races and cruises on his boat, Salacia were just a few of the many experiences they shared. At work, he designed a new tour helicopter with Augusta Westland, one of his proudest professional moments.

Despite all this, he still struggled with depression, a state severely worsened by the loss of his beloved ranch in 2015.

This brief bio does not even begin to describe the man Nigel Turner was but in the words of his children...

My daddy was kind and wanted the best for me and my sister and he loved nature and animals and he loved chocolate.
-Sarina

Daddy was amazing we love spending time together I hope he is better in heaven I love him so much  and he has no more pain. To daddy: I love you and I miss you but you will always be in my heart. -Eden

Despite the tragedy of his loss, I hope hearing his story will start a conversation about mental health and what we can do to help others suffering with similar ailments.

Any donation to help the family cope and start a new life would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you all for your support during this difficult time.
