Nigel Heath's Broken Heart

Miracles Do Happen

The body is an amazing thing. The older you get the more it tries to fix itself but in Nigel’s case, it needs help and needs it soon.

Nigel would not be here if his body had not sent out a tiny new artery from the left side to the right side of his heart, searching like a tree root looking for water in a drought, replacing his completely blocked artery with just enough blood flow to keep him alive, although now in a much weakened state.

All his vital signs continued to be well within normal range and gave no warning of his impending heart failure. There was no pain. No sudden change. Only a persistent cough and an increasing need to rest.

After many tests, the Cardiologist’s identified the culprits. One artery 100% blocked, another 95% blocked and a failing Aorta valve. Because he is otherwise a healthy, fit, young 65 year old, the Cardiologists classified him as an ideal candidate for a Stent and Trans Catheter Aortic Valve Replacement or TAVR.

The first thing Nigel did was to warn his family about this hereditary illness and implored them to visit their doctors for an immediate check up and regular follow-ups. This was unfortunately too late for his sister who unexpectedly passed away due to heart failure on his birthday, the 22nd February of this year.

For those of you that know Nigel, you know he has always been super active in physical sports, keeping his body fit and healthy. When there is a shout for assistance, he is normally the first in line to help anyone in need.

Now he needs our help. We are praying for a new miracle to assist with covering the costs of these delicate life saving procedures. We have currently paid $4000.00USD of the estimated $60,000USD to have the damaged parts replaced in Trinidad and the Cardiologists suggest  scheduling as soon as the end of March.  Although the costs may be less to have the procedures done in South Africa, there is no guaranteed time frame and the Cardiologists do not advise risking the long flight in his present condition.

So please, help us and feel free to share this with anyone that might be a partner in contributing to the mending of Nigel’s broken heart.
