With heavy hearts, we share the devastating loss of Sergeant/Station Commander Nigel Barnett, who tragically lost his life in a motorcycle accident on the morning of September 16th while on his way to work.

Sergeant Barnett faithfully served the New York State Police for 19 years. Throughout his career, he was known for his dedication to public safety, his steady leadership, and his unwavering commitment to the communities he protected. His presence, his professionalism, and his character will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Beyond his service, Nigel was a devoted partner and father. He and his longtime partner Kristin shared a beautiful blended family together, raising three children with love. He is also survived by his parents and siblings, who now mourn the loss of a son and brother taken far too soon.

In this time of unimaginable grief, we are coming together as his State Police family to support Nigel’s loved ones. Funds raised will go directly toward helping his family with funeral expenses and related needs as they navigate this heartbreaking loss.
