On Dec 9, my uncle Nigel had a stroke. He was rushed to the hospital and diagnosed with accelerated phase hypertension, which was probably brought on in part by the stress of his import / export business income being reduced to nothing during COVID.
His right leg is paralyzed and he has limited mobility in his right arm, which means that he can't walk, eat or go to the bathroom unassisted. Tammy, his wife, has some coverage through work benefits, but they will be facing significant challenges with hospital bills, physio and a nurse for round the clock care while she goes to work to support them.
Nigel is a big hearted person who will always drop everything to help others during times of crisis. He is a popular guy and well loved by his family and friends, and attends Mass every week. His sense of humour and supportive nature is known by all. For this to happen right before the holidays is devastating for all of us.
After being rushed to Mt Hope hospital in Trinidad, he was transferred to a private care facility after being left in a hallway on a stretcher for hours. Private medical care is extremely expensive, unfortunately, so they will need your help to defray costs for his stay, along with the expenses of maintaining round the clock care after his release.
A deep, heartfelt thank you for your generosity in these dire circumstances. God bless you.
