Hi. My name is Kelly. My husband, Jeff and I, along with our two teenage children, are working to rebuild our lives after a massive tree fell through our house during a thunderstorm. The four of us, plus our little dog, Ellie, are currently living out of a hotel and expect to then be in temporary housing for many months. We have never asked for this kind of help before but don't know where else to turn. We have a long list of new expenses that will continue for the foreseeable future; they include increased everyday living costs for meals, laundry etc. and the replacement of furniture and other household items, as well as paying for utilities at two addresses. We have quickly realized that while insurance is a big help, there are many costs above and beyond what is covered. The funds will help with the insurance deductible, make car repairs (our car that was parked in the garage at the time the tree fell was damaged from falling debris), cover security deposits in our rental space, replace all of the siding and more.
