Help Fund My Niece's Autism Assessment
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Ian and I am raising funds to enable my niece Emily to get a private autism assessment. Myself and my partner Karen are looking after Emily after her mother was diagnosed with a brain injury and is currently in care. Emily has recently been added to the waiting list to get an assessment. The current wait time is 4 years.
Emily will be 18 in June and it is our wish to get her an assessment before her 18th birthday. In social situations, Emily often finds it easier to stay in the sidelines. She enjoys spending time with close friends and family but for large gatherings and spontaneous events this can overwhelm her. She likes to have a plan and stick to it. When things get to chaotic she retreats to a quieter space.
As she approaches her 18th birthday, Emily is unsure of what the future holds. She is doing her best to plan for life beyond her current education and training. Despite the uncertainty, Emily remains determined to succeed. She is resilient and has learned to adapt to an ever changing world.
Moving into adulthood the autism assessment with give her a diagnosis which will give her the opportunity to consider jobs that match her interest and strengths. She is currently attending an ICT course which provides skills and qualifications to enable her to find that ideal job. Emily is a keen gamer and is skilled in digital art.
Thank you for taking the time to read this story.
