Mother of 6 needs help to recover

Jenae, my daughter, and son-in-law, Josh, have 6 school aged children. Currently, they are struggling  and are in  need of some help--any help. They need help because in August of this year Jenae, on the way back from picking up their oldest child, was stopped behind 3 other cars to allow several children to safely cross a street.  After being still on the street for a little over 30 seconds she was abruptly rear-ended at a crushing force, as the car that hit her was going about 35mph.

The accident resulted in various negative health implications for Jenae-- a brain injury, concussion, bruised esophagus, an aggravation of a brain condition called Chiari Malformation, and more.   The medical issues that have created the most extreme and limiting physical and mental difficulty for Jenae are related to the Chiari Malformation.

Chiari 1 Malformation is a condition where the brain is herniated out of the skull and is pushed down into the spinal canal - cutting off blood flow.  Jenae was diagnosed with Chiari in 2008 at 23, after suffering with severe symptoms since age 11, as knowledge of this medical issue is not easily diagnosed.

She underwent a brain decompression surgery 5 months later.   Her surgeon cautioned her to avoid participating in anything that may jolt, jerk or "rattle" the brain inside her head, such as roller coasters, as the damage could be debilitating and even fatal.

Decompression surgeries rarely alleviate all of the symptoms caused by Chiari Malformations, making Jenae's decompression surgery a rare success because after Jenae had the procedure all of her symptoms went away. She felt like she had a second chance at life, not living in pain or scared to go out because of the fear of having drop spells (passing out).

Since the accident, Jenae's health, both mentally and physically, have been at a steady decline. Words fall short of describing how discouraging this has been for both her and her family.   Her former surgeon is now retired, leaving her to start all over trying to get into see someone who specializes in this condition.

Finding another Chiari specialist at a local level has proven to be extremely difficult, to-date, despite countless calls and research.  She continues to hold out hope that someone can help her back to a normal life.

In the mean time, her symptoms continue to worsen as time passes. Following are just some of her health issues because honestly there are too many to note: loss of feeling in her hands and feet, nerve pain, numbness, tingling from head to toe, an inability to properly regulate her body temperature, head pain (pressure and throbbing that surpass the pain of a migraine) and drop spells/passing out.  She is also experiencing hearing, vision, sleep, and cognitive issues, in conjunction with short-term memory loss, overall body weakness, tremors, motor and sensory deficits, poor balance, dizziness, and vertigo, and seizures.  So far no medication has helped to relieve the symptoms.

Jenae was forced to give up her respite care job in October when seizures started, as it became unsafe for her to work, drive and even being left alone.  This cut their household income in half. As such, the financial stress is overwhelming for Jenae and her family.

She can't help kids with homework, do housework, grocery shopping, prepare meals, laundry and other normal activities.

Many of you have already so graciously stepped in to help by cooking meals, transporting kids (ages 13, 12, 12, 11, 7 & 7) to and from school, searching for and recommending doctors, offering encouraging words, and, most importantly, praying for her healing and comfort.  On their behalf, I thank you.

For those who haven't been able to help, or have not been sure how they can help, I'm hoping this site will provide you with an avenue that you can do so.

1st Please pray for Jenae and her family- for the right doctor, answers and overall healing (physical, mental and emotional).

2nd Please share Jenae's information and this GoFundMe page. The more people who know Jenae's story the more prayer & more help for the Niday family.

3rd Please donate- what you provide will be greatly appreciated and valued by the Niday family.  The financial strain of an 8 family member household during the holidays is overwhelming.

Thank you so very much for spreading Jenae's story. The more people that read her story, the more awareness it brings to Chiari as well! Thank you for helping in any way you can !

Thank you and God bless!
