Hi, I’m raising funds to help support a very expensive and long nicu stay for our new baby Ryan. This stay was unexpected and has been very heartbreaking for us… we have a 15 month old daughter and a 16 day old son.

On July 26th my water broke at only 35 weeks and I was life flighted 3.5 hours from home to st. Francis in Colorado Springs. Ryan was delivered emergency c section because he went breech suddenly. During surgery he squirmed out of the drs reach and that cause him respiratory distress. For 72 hours after birth Ryan had to be on a cooling mat to stop the blood rushing to his brain for a second time and to prevent brain damage. It was the most heart breaking thing to watch your brand new baby go through so much pain and also not know what to expect. We’ve been away from home for 16 days now we are trying to be with Ryan 24/7 but we also try to spend time with our daughter. It has been an emotional roller coaster as we are trying to get home safely with our kids but we have to make sure he can eat a bottle without his heart rate dropping and that he doesn’t need oxygen or have to be life flighted back here. He probably has two more weeks in the nicu.

We have spent a lot of money just being here even though we try not to spend a lot.. it’s almost impossible because everything is expensive and not being close to home is so hard. We will have to get a hotel for a few nights in between grandparents coming and going to help watch our daughter because the hospital doesn’t like her staying here with us all of a sudden. Ryan has been moved from the more intensive nicu room to a tiny closet room that they say is the last step for him to go home but it doesn’t feel like that..
