NICU Medical Expenses for Luca

For those who don't already know Jen and Javier: they are two incredibly compassionate and open-hearted therapists who found true love in one another and decided to build a life and family together in New Mexico.

When Jen became pregnant, they were ecstatic! At 34 weeks, Jen experienced a placental abruption that required an emergency C-section.

Their five-pound child, Luca (which means "the bringer of light"), was born and immediately needed chest compressions to stay alive. He was rushed to the NICU, and both Jen and he required blood transfusions. Luca is already showing the world that he is a fighter and wants to be here. Jen and Javier have been by his side, praying and loving him fiercely.

Luca is on a long road to recovery. His parents are facing serious medical expenses and costs to maintain Luca's care and to ensure he receives the life-saving treatment he needs. In addition, Jen and Javier will need to travel to be with Luca once Jen is discharged home. Their jobs in the mental health service field also mean, sadly, that their benefits and pay do not allow them the opportunity to take an extended leave nor cover the costs/co-pays of Luca's treatment.

Jen and Javier have spent their lives spreading love and enriching the souls of everyone they encounter. Their newborn, Luca, is already living up to his name as a light-sharer. Please, if you can, help support this family as they work through such a challenging time, as expenses should be the least of their concerns.
