NICU, Family, and Recovery Care

Cyndii, our big hearted, even bigger smile, dear friend and talented actress, needs our support.

Cyndii was blessed this year to become pregnant! Cyndii took an acting job away from her current home city, then was met with complications during her contract. Like many black birthing folks in our country, she was faced with a maternal health crisis. Cyndii was hospitalized and diagnosed with severe preeclampsia which led her to have an Emergency C-Section at 24 weeks to save her life.

We are happy to report that Cyndii and baby Harris are safe post birth! Her son Harris is currently being cared for in the NICU due to being born so premature. He will stay in the NICU for the next few months as he grows, develops, and pushes through any and all challenges. The doctors have been amazing and baby Harris is getting stronger by the day.

What this means is, Cyndii has to stay in a city she doesn't currently live in, until it is safe for baby Harris to be discharged. Her shelter is currently covered, thanks to the support of her past job, but being hospitalized led her to lose her employment sooner than anticipated. Cyndii’s partner, Keith, is working and navigating parental leave from another state. As he takes off work to support his family, most of that time is not covered with paid leave.

Cyndii, and her family need our support while she is recovering and recouping from the emergency costs and hospital care. Please community, let’s support this family. Let’s lift up our girl Cyndii, who we all know would show up with a meal, an herb, a salve, if we needed. Keep Cyndii, Keith, and baby Harris in your prayers. Every ounce of strength is especially needed at this time.
