NICST, (UK Registered charity #1171106)
currently based in Sri Lanka, employees solely national staff and works with local doctors and nurses to help them teach frontline teams and community support staff the practical skills to help recognise and respond to emergencies including cardiac arrest. Since 2013 they have trained over 4500 nationals island wide reaching 40,000 patients. Alongside clinical training, we use clinical, data analytics and research skills to develop a usable, free, mobile application to help clinicians detect and monitor their sickest patients. All international staff work on a voluntary basis to help strengthen and develop existing expertise locally both through training, research and educational/academic opportunities.
All donations go directly to the training projects, with no UK administrative costs (we all give our time and expertise for free). Funds are used to travel to remote parts of the country, to train local faculty and to source training equipment including simulation kit- essential for helping teams provide safer emergency care.
So far this year with your help, we have trained 270 junior doctors as they prepare for clinical practice and 650 doctors and nurses have registered for acute and critical care training with us.
All of our training, projects and research publications are open source and available on our website.
