Nic's Family Security Fund

**This GoFundMe is managed by Ashley Balogh on behalf of the family of our partner Nicholas Blassingame. 100% of funds raised will go to the family of Nic Blassingame. **

Friends, I need your help. On June 15, Nic's family lost a husband and partner in life, a  loving father, a cherished son, and a provider. We lost a beloved member of our family and team.

Nic Blassingame leaves behind his wife, Ayanna, and 2 children: Nikylah and Nicholas Jr. His passing was preceded by the loss of their oldest daughter Day’Ozjah just last year.

Nic was a strong principled man who cared for nothing more than his family. He worked hard every day to provide a good life for them. I am, and we are, lucky to have shared part of our lives with him and benefit from his huge heart and passion for life. It's a devastating loss of a one of a kind person.

Below is a personal note from Nic's wife.  Any help you can give to help Nic's family over the next few months have the space and safety to grieve and find a new sense of stability just means the world to us. Please read her note and thank you for your support. Nic will be missed so much and I hope his story can help provide some support for his family in this challenging time.

-----

Nicholas (Nic) Blassingame Sr. Born on November 22 1980 and was someone who was one of a kind!

Once you knew him, you knew that you met a great man. Nicholas and Ayanna got together when they was 17 years old in 97, TRUE high school sweethearts and has been together ever since. Nicholas quickly became a part of Ayanna’s family and from that moment he never left her side. So much that they ended up having three beautiful children together Day’Ozjah, Nikylah and Nicholas Jr.

They were together 23 years total, but sadly only got to enjoy marriage for 15 months and with that Nicholas received a lot of respect and admiration from the family and people in the community, young and old.

A year and half ago they lost their oldest child, Day’Ozjah at 19 years old in the most tragic way and at that moment their lives changed forever! Nic changed forever. During this unbelievably tragic time Nicholas did everything in his power to make sure that his wife and kids were taken care of.

As much as we all tried to support him Nic’s health was declining with stress, high blood pressure, sleep apnea and kidney problems, yet he still woke up everyday and went to work a job that he LOVED!!!  He was proud of his career with DePaul Industries.

However all that changed on June 15, 2020 when Nicholas came home from work not feeling well his wife quickly noticed something was wrong when he got out of the shower and passed out on the bed. He was rushed to OSHU where she found out that due to his extremely high blood pressure brain tissue had thinned and blood was on his brain stem, which controls everything and there was nothing the doctors could do.

After spending on last night with her husband she took him off of life support, held his hand and told him to go be with their oldest daughter and that she would take care of their youngest two.

Due to COVID 19 Ayanna has not been able to work and Nicholas was the sole provider. She is not only left with the debt of burying their daughter just a year and a half ago, but now she has to bury Nicholas while maintaining and taking care of their two children and their household.

This type of burden is too much to put on anyone, let alone a wife who has NEVER spent a day without her husband and now having to be strong enough to allow her kids to mourn not only their older sister, but now their father too. The only man they’ve ever known and the only man Ayanna has EVER loved.

Any type of assistance will help, but most of all making sure she has financial help so that she can mourn with her children and not worry about being evicted or power/lights/water being shut off. Ayanna and her kids deserve to know that people care and that God has not left their side.
