Our precious boy, Nico, has been diabetic and struggling with insulin resistance for about two years. Nico has now developed DKA, or diabetic keto acidosis, along with liver troubles. DKA is a life- threatening circumstance that has left him hospitalized for over 4 days now with little progress.

Nico has been given a feeding tube to supplement his calories since he is still without appetite. It’s likely that Nico will need to have this feeding tube for several weeks after he is discharged which will bring several challenges on its own.

Nico has brought nothing but joy, love, laughs, and filament to our lives, and others. Seeing our bubbly happy boy so down and sick, has been a heartbreaking process. We are staying positive during his time and are hopeful that he will be on the mend and can come home soon.
