Nico's journey to the 2028 Olympics

Nicolas Pombo is a dedicated Taekwondo athlete located in Ottawa, Ontario. Since the beginning of his Taekwondo journey, he has been incredibly hard working and has been rapidly improving as a result of his consistency and motivation. Now, at 15 years old, he is competing internationally with the goal of gaining experience for his dream of competing for Canada in the 2028 Olympic games.

2023 was a huge year in development for Nico. He competed at Canada Open in Vancouver and won a bronze medal at US Open in Las Vegas. During the Summer, he participated in the AAU nationals in Florida and many other regional tournaments. He began 2024 training alongside Olympians at the 2nd Taekwondo Galeb Evolution Training Camp in Belgrade, Serbia, a camp directed by multiple times best coach, Master Dragan Jovic and other Talented coaches from around the world. In mid February, he once again competed in Canada Open, this time receiving a bronze medal. As Nico was a permanent resident without a Canadian Citizenship, he was unable to compete in the 2023 National Championships. After 5 years of living in Canada, he finally received his Canadian Passport and is ready to display his talent at President's cup in Costa Rica and the 2024 Canadian National Championships.

At this moment, Nico's training and competitions are entirely self-funded which limits his tournament options. With each international tournament being approximately $3,000 CAD (including registration fees, flights, meals, and accommodations), all donations received from this fundraiser will directly go to covering 50% of Nico's international competition and travel costs through 2024 and 2025.
