Nico's Gender Affirming Surgery

Following years of delay due to catastrophic personal loss and the COVID-19 pandemic, our favourite, funny, fireball enthusiast, friend and philomath, Nico, is finally having the life-changing, gender-affirming top surgery he needs and deserves on June 2nd.

To know Nico is to be his friend. To be Nico’s friend is to be his family, and as such, we are organizing this fundraiser on his behalf. Nico is very involved in numerous communities in Guelph, from mental health, to the arts community, to the queer community. He enjoys volunteering and being of service to those communities.

In Ontario, Top Surgery is not completely covered by OHIP and will cost, at minimum, $4000 for the surgery and additional medical costs. Nico is a disabled student who relies on ODSP for his income. 4000 dollars is almost 25 percent of Nico’s annual income and he is leaning on his family, friends, and community to raise the money to pay for this. Any funds raised beyond $4000 will contribute to vet care for his sweet, senior dog Bella. She very recently has experienced costly health issues which require more testing and medication which he is also unable to afford. Any additional funds raised beyond veterinary and medical care will be donated to other community members in need, through ARCH.
