I learned how to speak Spanish in high school, and I always found it useful at work - but I didn't imagine that would unlock God's calling for my life. Now, I'm headed to Nicaragua to experience life on the mission field!

It took one week-long trip to Nicaragua to realize how God might use my ability to speak Spanish. In just five days of ministry, I saw God use me to explain His love to a group of dozens of kids at a summer camp. I was able to encourage an abused girl that as a daughter of the King, she would always have worth. I had the chance to pray for multiple people in their native language.
My heart was captivated as I encountered the purpose for which God has designed me.
Then, in May of 2015, I felt God clearly explain to me that he wanted me to go.
"Where?" I asked. "To do what?"
And He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation. Mark 16:15 (NASB)

I went to Nicaragua again this past May on another week-long trip. All I could think was that week-long trips to Latin America are not all that God has planned.
After several months of prayer, I decided it is time to act on the calling God has given me. This school year, I am enrolling in a missions-based study abroad program called Engage, based in Nicaragua!
Through Engage, I will not only be able to work toward my degree, but also spend my semesters immersed in hands-on missions under the expertise of missionaries Ken and Kendra Doutt.
Check out this video to hear from Ken and Kendra with more details on the program.
Engage Nicaragua offers me the opportunity to respond to the call of God on my life and to pray about a lifetime of ministry. This program is a cost-effective way for me to pursue my education while sharing Christ’s love and compassion with the people of Nicaragua.
Engage Nicaragua is driven by a passion for the people of Nicaragua through serving them and helping them believe that God has a purpose for their life. The main ministry there can be called “compassion evangelism,” centered on the belief that God cares not only for the spiritual but also the physical needs of those around us.
As an Engage student, I will assist in services like:
•Youth Outreach
•Children's Outreach
•Feeding Programs
•Compassion Outreach
•Mentoring Programs
•Distributing Clothing and Educational Materials to Children
•Helping with Outreach Teams from the U.S.
•Working with Local Churches
At the same time I will be working toward my college degree by doing the necessary course work online. I will also have an incredible opportunity of being immersed into the Spanish language and discovering the beauty of the Nicaraguan culture.

I need two things as I prepare for my trip to Nicaragua:
1) Prayer
I firmly believe that this is more important than financials in order to have a successful semester! It is prayer that has led me to my calling, it is prayer that has helped me to believe this is possible, and it is prayer that will help me complete the ministry God desires to do.
Whether or not you plan to donate, please stop and say a prayer for me - even right now! The smallest of prayers prayed in faith can still move mountains.
2) Finances
Engage will cost $4,250 for the first semester, which includes all expenses (housing with utilities, meals, required medical insurance, internet access, language classes, local transportation, residence visa, pre-paid cell phone credits, and ministry travel excursions).
The plane tickets will cost roughly $450-$500.
The cost of college tuition will be covered through personal means.
I will be working until I can come up with enough money to cover the cost for Engage, but donations towards the program fees will get me there even faster!
If I have enough funds to go for the fall semester then I will leave on August 25! Otherwise I will need the entirety of the funds by January 11.

While this next step for my life is a big one, I know that it is going to be the best one yet. I believe that God has called me to go and share His love with people in Spanish-speaking countries. I am excited to go and see if it is really something I could do for the long-term.

Imagine the impact that this trip will have. I know that God will be able to reach dozens if not hundreds of people through my willingness to go. There is also an undeniable personal life change that will take place throughout my time on the mission field with Engage Nicaragua.
Would you help me get to Nicaragua?
If you are willing, please support me in my efforts to pursue God's call to share the Gospel with this world!
Thank you so much for your care to even read all of this and consider donating! Your spiritual and emotional support mean the world to me! I cannot wait to share my journey with you!
With much love and appreciation,
Nicole Abraham
