Dear Friends & Family,
As I am sure many of you know - moving to Guatemala has been the desire of my heart for about five years now and the Lord finally opened a door for me to move there after years of praying, waiting, and trusting!
I am incredibly excited to announce that I have accepted a teaching position in Huehuetenango, Guatemala for the 2017 school year at Colegio Bilingue Esperanza (School of Hope)! The School of Hope is a bilingual elementary school that serves around 75 children from the Fundacion Salvacion orphanage and the surrounding community. I will be responsible for teaching English, Bible, and art classes. When I am not teaching, I will be spending much of my time doing extra-curricular activities with the children at the Fundacion.
Last summer I spent two months volunteering at the School of Hope and Fundacion Salvacion and fell in love with the children the instant I met them. Jesus has divinely orchestrated this opportunity of a lifetime for me and I am absolutely overjoyed for this next season where I will get to do life day to day with the most wonderful children in the world!
The teaching position I have accepted is a volunteer position. Therefore, I am asking for donations in support of my move to Huehuetenango. My goal is to raise $5,000 for the 10 months I will be teaching in Huehue. $2,250 of the money I raise will be going towards my flights to and from Guatemala, lodging expenses in Guatemala City upon my arrival to Guatemala, transportation to and from Huehue, and transportation and lodging expenses during 3 visa renewal trips to Mexico. The remaining $2,750 will go towards my basic living expenses in Guatemala, classroom supplies, prizes and activity costs for my students, etc. I need to raise a minimum of $2,250 by November 1, 2016 to insure airfare and lodging expenses are covered; the remainder of the funds would be helpful at any point of my 10 month stay in Guatemala.
While financial support is important, I also am looking for prayer support as I embark on this new journey. If you are willing please pray for my students, my fellow teachers, the Fundacion, the School of Hope, and my transition to life in Huehue.
This next season of life is going to be filled with changes and lessons and trials and excitement, but I am SO excited to be a part of what God is doing in Huehuetenango and at the School of Hope!
If you have any questions about what my days are going to look like while in Guatemala, the kids I will be serving, or anything else - please feel free to contact me. I would love to sit down with you and tell you more about this incredible opportunity I have been blessed with!
Thank you in advance for your willingness to support me as I follow Jesus to Guatemala!
All my love,
Nicole Puglisi
