Help me join HB's leadership expedition to Africa

Donation protected
Support my efforts to secure a place in Homeward Bound's expedition to Africa for women leaders in STEMM.

I am honoured to have been selected as one of 64 women to participate in the ninth cohort of Homeward Bound, a global transformational leadership initiative for women in STEMM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics and Medicine).

The final component of this program takes place in Tanzania in late 2025. It’s an intensive, immersive experience designed to build leadership, visibility, and strategic capability among women who are working to make a difference in the world.

I’m seeking support to help cover the program fee (9,000 USD) and the return flight to Tanzania (3,000 AUD). Any contribution, no matter how large or small, will be gratefully received.

Why Homeward Bound?

Homeward Bound ’s mission is to equip 10,000 women in STEMM with the leadership tools, networks, and visibility to lead with courage, clarity, and compassion, especially in the face of the global challenges of climate change, biodiversity loss, and social inequality.

I am joining an inspiring cohort of women from across the globe. We’re learning to lead with purpose, communicate with impact, and bring science into spaces where decisions are made.

The culmination of the program, the expedition to Tanzania, is where this will all come together.

Why women? Why STEMM?

Although women make up a growing proportion of STEMM graduates, only a fraction reach leadership roles. Homeward Bound aims to change that – not just for those of us participating, but for those following in our footsteps.

Representation matters. If we want a more equitable and sustainable future, we need diverse voices at the table, leading with evidence and empathy.

Why me?

I am a science communicator with a deep passion for the natural world. I manage the Australian branch of the Biodiversity Heritage Library (BHL), the world’s largest online repository of biodiversity literature and archival material. I work with museums, herbaria, libraries, universities, and field naturalist clubs to make biodiversity knowledge freely available and interconnected so we can continue to build on that knowledge today.
