I'm beyond blessed and excited for the opportunity to run for Ms West Coast 2015!
This came across my path at the perfect time. You see, a few years ago I became very ill with endometriosis. In four and a half years I spent over a year in and out of hospitals and on bedrest. It was a very challenging time. During one of many two month experiences on bedrest I began to write. It's very cathartic. I wasn't certain what I was going to do with all the material but what I did know was that it was taking me out of my current position. About two months after I was up and working again, I received a call. I was referred to a customer to assist them with an IT solution. I've been an IT Consultant while pursuing acting and Red Carpet Hosting. The customer they referred me to was the President of a Christian TV Network. I knew. I knew then I was going for it. I called her and scheduled my consulting appointment and then said, "by any chance are you looking for new content?" She paused and said, "As a matter of fact we are." Long story short, I pitched to the network and my show was picked up for 12 episodes. Two months later it was green lit for all 12!
The truth is this life can be difficult. It can throw you things you never saw coming. That's when you decide. What am I going to do with this? You can curl up in a ball or search, pray, gosh even beg God for answers. I never thought I'd have to fight so hard for my health in my thirties but I did. The pain medication and extended time in bed caused excessive weight gain and my hair even began aggressively breaking off. I came to the point where I knew it was best to not look in the mirror. It was too hard. In the industry I work in it's even tougher... After years of searching and praying I found solutions that grew the hair back, reduced much of the pain and I slowly began to look like my old self again.
As I began taking steps towards my dream; putting my Faith based show on the air, I recognized how much that time aided me and prepared me.
While there have been many incredible people and opportunities that have come along my path I am elated to tell you about Ms West Coast 2015. Only a few short days ago a pageant scout reached out to me. I laughed. I was nominated for Miss Syracuse years ago and was a Spokesperson for Southern CA Teen Health. I've done a lot of Red Carpet Hosting and thought pageant days were behind me. Then I thought about it. What a great opportunity. I contacted the Executive Director and had a conference call that convinced me this was for me and I was excited about it. She spoke of empowering woman. She spoke about how important it was to tell women of all ages that we are strong, overcomers, wise, role models, well educated, powerful... I listened and thought that's me and I have something to offer. She then listened and was excited about me and my show. I decided this was the perfect platform for me to leverage my faith based TV show. I'm proud to be running for Ms West Coast 2015. Thank you for taking the time to read my story. Please consider sponsoring me on this journey.
