For nearly a decade, Nicole Flenniken has dealt with the debilitating effects of chronic Lyme disease. Before contracting Lyme, her hobbies included running, biking, hiking, and SCUBA diving. She was invested both in teaching (at home and in the South Pacific) and in working on a degree to prepare for further ministry abroad. Love for God and for people—internationals in particular—drove her.
While the same things drive Nicole today, wracking nerve and bone pain has confined her to her parents’ home where she has lived for the last eight years, unable to work. Though she’s had to relinquish the active life she would have chosen, she has pursued Christ hard in the quiet and has chosen to delight in him in the darkness.
As her condition has worsened this past year, she has prayed for wisdom about a new treatment plan. Based on her research, the advice of her doctors, and discussion with family and friends, Nicole has chosen to pursue treatment at Envita Medical Center in Scottsdale, Arizona. (You can read more about that decision here https://midnightmeetsmorning.wordpress.com
in her most recent blog post.) The clinic has been researching and treating Lyme disease for fifteen years, drawing on the best of conventional and integrative practices to develop personalized, comprehensive treatment plans for each patient.
That treatment, however, is expensive and not covered by insurance. In one of her blog posts, Nicole says, “I understand that both by healing and by withholding healing, God is glorified.” As her friends, we’ve watched God get great glory through her responses to him in suffering. He’s made her a showcase of his power. But we’ve also watched her health decline this last year, and we’re praying for God to magnify himself by restoring her physically. Please join us in praying and giving toward that end.

***Treatment at Envita Medical Center is costly (between $60-80K). The money donated through this campaign will go directly to her treatment plan at Envita which is scheduled to start this summer. Thank you!
