Hello!! My friend Nicole is 31 years old and was recently diagnosed with Rheumatoid Arthritis and is currently being tested for Fibromyalgia. She is also scheduled for several other tests outlined below in the list of side effects. What she really needs is a test for Silicon Poisoning due to complications from using Mirena as her method of birth control. According to her doctors, California is the only state that authorizes testing for Silicon Poisoning. Mirena, owned by Bayer, an Intrauterine Device (IUD) has been linked to serious side effects to a lot of its users and and can have devastating effects on a woman's reproductive health, There is currently an ongoing class-action lawsuit in Illinois and other parts of the country. Below is a briefing on the Illinois lawsuit:

In 2009, officials from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) sent Bayer a warning letter regarding its marketing of Mirena. According to the letter, a direct marketing program Bayer created with the social networking site 'Mom Central' exaggerated the benefits of Mirena while simultaneously downplaying the risk of the device. Specifically, the FDA took issue with Bayer's claim that using Mirena would improve a woman's sex life and make her 'look and feel better.' According to the FDA, these claims were groundless and completely unsubstantiated. Mirena recipients in Illinois and all around the country have reported suffering the following serious side effects after being implanted with the IUD:

Device migration, perforation of the uterus, embedment in the uterine lining, abscesses, erosion of adjacent areas such as the vagina, infertility, miscarriages, inflammation of the membrane that lines the abdominal cavity and internal organs, intestinal perforations or obstruction, pelvic inflammatory disease, ovarion cysts, irregular spotting or bleeding, vaginitis, painful menstruation, pelvic pain, breast tenderness, ectopic pregnancy, intrauterine pregnancy, amenorrhea, streptococcal sepsis and wrongful death. 

Some of these injuries and infections require a complete hysterectomy to treat and severe cases can even lead to death.

Silicone Immune Toxicity Syndrome is when the body produces antibodies against the complex that forms when silicone attaches to protein molecules in various organs, resulting in an autoimmune response. This campaign is to help fund a trip to California to get the necessary tests done by a neuro surgeon and to help pay her medical bills. Nicole has been greatly affected by the ordeal so bad that she had to end up sacrificing her job and is now struggling to keep up with medical expenses.
