Nicole Woomer

Daughter, sister, wife, mom, teacher, friend, warrior! Nicole Woomer was all of these things and so much more! On Wednesday, August 9th, my best friend, Nicole, passed away after her four-year battle with ovarian cancer. To say she was the strongest person we have known is an understatement. She always said the word she wanted to keep in mind was Warrior, and that is indeed what she was.

An amazing daughter and sister to her family, Nicole especially showed us all what it meant to be an amazing mother to her children, Sophia (13), and Miles (10). She loved them with every fiber of her being and always put them first in every aspect of her life. Along with her loving husband, Brett, they were able to create the most beautiful family. When watching Nicole and Brett together, you could see what it meant to be true soul mates. Their love was unique and special and something that few have ever had or will ever experience.

Nicole was also an amazing teacher. She was employed for the past 15 years in the Fort LeBoeuf School District at Robison Elementary. She found her passion in teaching 4th grade math and connecting with her students. She was an incredible teacher who was respected, loved, admired, incredible, and oh so inspiring to not only her students, but all of the faculty and staff with which she worked. Students that had her were forever changed by her amazing teaching and wonderful wit that engaged them daily and made them love learning while continuing to shape them into amazing people as well. She certainly has left a lasting mark on our school through her humor and her commitment to her students.

Nicole's determination through this battle was inspirational, and this loss will be immense for her family, friends, and the entire school community.
