Nicole Stines - Fight for Her Life Cancer Fund

As most of you know, thanks to an attentive dental hygienist, Nicole was diagnosed with thyroid cancer last year. She underwent surgery in September 2018 to remove her thyroid as well as 68 lymph nodes, 51 of which were cancerous. With the help and support of her awesome family and friends, Nicole fought like a champ and was on the road to recovery.
At her six month post-op appointment, the doctor noticed some concerning nodules which led to ultrasounds and CT scans. The news that came next was unexpected and unthinkable: the cancer was back, the radioiodine therapy Nicole previously had was not only ineffective but her rare type of thyroid cancer is radiation sensitive, meaning surgery is her only option.
Only 4 in 1 million people are resistant to radioiodine and most prognoses are bleak at best. But as we all know, Nicole doesn't fall under that "most" category. She is full of fight and determination with an unrelenting spirit.
Funds raised for Nicole and her family will go towards getting a second opinion, ensuring she is getting the best care by the best team of doctors possible, and the many follow-up appointments she'll have after surgery. There will be all sorts of expenses along the way that add up, like taking unpaid time off work, the extra tanks of gas driving to/from appointments, physical therapy and just ordering dinner when she's too exhausted to cook.
Nicole is one of the most generous, selfless, compassionate people we all know. She has driven across the country countless times to be with friends in need, she'll talk on the phone with you at all hours of the night, babysit your kids at the drop of a hat and she has always been there for us when we needed a friend. It's our turn to be there for Nicole and her family!
