Dear family & friends:
As many of you know, receiving my running blade just a year ago - after 17 years of being an amputee - was life changing.
It has eliminated my back pain, lengthened the lifespan of my everyday prosthesis, and provided increased energy return to match the capability of my right leg. Now that I have the appropriate prosthesis to help me run, I've been able to take my training to the next level.

In March, I had the honor of competing and representing the USA at the Paratriathlon American Championships in Sarasota, FL. I'm proud to say that at my debut International Triathlon Union (ITU) race I came home with 2nd place and a silver medal!
Now, I'm headed to the National Championships in Long Beach, CA on July 20!
Not only will this be an opportunity to compete for the national title, but I will have the opportunity to qualify for the USA Paratriathlon Development Team Program, which is designed to identify and develop athletic potential leading into the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games.

Being part of the amputee-athlete community has also been an incredible foundation to my work with Forrest Stump. It has brought me closer to the issues, developed incredible corporate partnerships and disability allies within the sport community (such as with Specialized Bicycle Components), and allowed me to meet countless other adaptive athletes, like myself, who each have a story about barriers to access.
Competing at this level has been a dream come true, but it also comes with a fair set of expenses (e.g. flights, rental cars, hotel, race entry fees, running/biking/swimming equipment), not to mention everything it takes to get to the starting line in the first place (e.g. pool fees, gym memberships, prosthetic limbs, and even more equipment).
If you'd like to help support this goal and get me to the National Championships - at any amount - I would greatly appreciate it! It's almost time for the big race, let's do this!
Thank you,
Nicole Ver Kuilen
