Hi, it's Marissa. For my mitzvah project, I am trying to raise 150 chai for charity. In Judaism, chai means 18 and is special for donating tzedakah (Charity in Hebrew). Nikki Scott was my mom's best friend who passed away from the flu in 2014. Nikki worked for the Board of Education in New York City to help develop new schools for underserved communities. After she died, her family set up a charity that provides scholarships for students with financial struggles to go to college. She was such a special person to our family and I am trying to raise this money not only for the students but in honor of her as well. Nikki dedicated so much time and was involved in many different charities throughout her short lifetime.
