Nicole & Graesyn Hoss Foundation in Memory of Gil
Gil 9.5.78 - 12.24.2020
2020 has been a trying year for so many, but none maybe as much as this family! I have never done this before, and am typically such a private person. This is something that has been SO heavy on my heart, and I knew I had to do something. I truly believe in the worst of years, that this SEASON is about something BIGGER than ourselves! And that GOOD can come from even the darkest and worst of times! I truly believe this is one of those times, I PRAY you will help me! I am in tears as I write this...
Gil was an amazing man and father who I metthru my sons competitive baseball team. I was drawn to him immediately because on competitive teams, there is a lot of “my kid is better than yours stuff, lol”. Gil was not one of those men! He was a teacher by trade, and was solaid back, and funny, the man who would takemy daughter onto his lap and play video games with her on their phones while the game was going on ha ha...He had an infectious personality and enjoyed life as it came, and I loved this about him. Something I wish at times I had more of it myself.
His son Graesyn, has this same spirit/ personality about him on the ball field and while playing fornite. He calls himself “Toxic” in jest, as he got the better of batters while pitching, or while playing his favorite video games, andwe always hit it off. The older I get I realize that kids and their childhood are one of the greatest joys in life for a parent, and every day should be cherished.
Gil was admitted to St. John’s hospital here in Tulsa on 11.14 for Covid symptoms. On 11.23 it had become severe enough, he had to be intubated and placed on a vent. By 11.28, he had been put on ECMO and moved to a bed inOKC.
Nicole this whole time, has been a pillar of strength for her son. Going thru Thanksgiving and Christmas with your husband and her father both in ICU at different hospitals (one on opposite side of the state) with COVID!! Is something no wife or mother, should ever have to experience! Nor being able to visit them in the hospital!
This was a healthy 42 year old husband and father. The same age as me! I cry at the thought of leaving my 12 year old son and 8 year old daughter behind!
On Christmas Eve, Nicole and 12 year old Graesyn drove the 1.5 hour drive to OKC, to say final goodbyes to their husband and father, to take him off life support, as nothing more could be done...
I plead you make this go viral, share with everyone you can! No one should have to go thru this on the holidays!! I will be making a donation personally, and ask you to consider doing the same, to help Nicole with future bills and for Graesyns future and college as well...
God Bless YOU,
Griffin Parker
