Hello, my name is Ashley Wigton. I am raising funds for my brother Brandon and sister in law Nicole Ganong. Nicole has been battling breast cancer since her diagnosis this past summer of 2024. After surgery in January to remove cancer from the breast and lymph nodes, further tests revealed the cancer had spread to her spine, liver, ribs and bones. The funds would be used to help cover the cost of lost wages, hospital visits, gas, groceries, bills and anything else Brandon and Nicole need during this time. Any donation or share is appreciated. If you are unable to donate, please share this go fund me to your friends and family.
Attached is Nicole's story in her own words.
"There's something I've been wanting to share for some time now and I finally feel ready to share about it. In June of last year I was diagnosed with stage 2 invasive ductal cell carcinoma after I discovered a lump. It felt like my world was turned upside down. By July I started chemotherapy and underwent quite a few changes, not just how I felt but my appearance as well. Losing all my hair was a difficult challenge but I continued to try and stay positive. I gotta say, getting ready in the mornings had never been easier! I went through two phases of treatment which the second one ended mid December and I got to have a nice break over Christmas. The treatment showed very positive signs, my tumor shrunk about a third and my lymph node practically returned back to normal. January 28th I underwent my lumpectomy with lymphnode removal surgery. The last step was going to be Radiation about a month after my surgery. I felt so happy and relieved, the end of this seemed near and I was looking forward to putting this all behind me and getting back to all the things I enjoy.
The weekend before last I started experiencing some odd pain. After a fews days and the pain getting worse I reached out to my doctor's and nurses thinking it was a possible side effect from surgery or chemo. I was advised to get checked out as blood clots can sometimes develop after surgery. On Wednesday I went to the hospital and they ran several tests including blood work, x-rays and a CT scan. What was found on the CT scan I never saw coming. Multiple lesions in my liver, spine and ribs. We met with my Oncologist and nurse the following day and they confirmed my cancer had spread and it was now stage 4. There are still several unknowns which further scans will confirm but finding out that it can no longer be cured has just shattered me. I'll be having a CT of my abdomen, a full bone scan, as well as a biopsy of my liver to rule out the possibility of a second cancer. I have been started on a new treatment to help slow down the progression and make it more manageable.
The amount of support that I've had throughout this battle with cancer has made such a huge difference. I'm so thankful and grateful for all the amazing people in my life. To all my friends, family and co-workers, I appreciate all of you and I can't even begin to express how much you all mean to me. Especially to my partner, Brandon who's been there by my side and helped me through every step of this journey, I couldn't have done it all without you. For us to be together and still laugh even during the worst of times has made this whole experience so much easier.
Thank you everyone for taking the time to read this, I've learned just how precious time can be. No matter your age or health the most unpredictable things can happen in life. Take the time to get checked out and stay on top of your health."
