In Loving Memory of Nicole Alvarez

Hi everyone! My name is Shalaine and I am the eldest of Nicole's three children. I write this note on behalf of my younger siblings and children - D'Andre, Zane, Nile & Nia. In December of 2022, my mom was diagnosed with a rare form of sarcoma cancer. Being so rare, it was hard to detect and by the time we found it, it had already started to spread. We immediately started treatment, and mom endured rounds of chemo and radiation, and fought with all her might. After fighting so fiercely to be here for us, she lost her battle on January 11, 2024. She was surrounded by her loved ones and no longer has to suffer.

To know my mom, is to love her. She was always so soft spoken, yet had this bright smile and beautiful aura that was so loud and loving. No matter where she went, or what she was doing, she did it gracefully. Always willing to help and encourage those around her, no matter what she was facing. As her eldest, we shared a special bond; long talks, lots of laughs and unwavering support at all times. A lot of times we hear things like "that's your parent, not your friend", but let me tell you...she will always be my best friend. When I became a mom, she was with me the whole entire way, both times! Something I'll forever cherish. As I raise my children, I really see how alike we are, and how important it is to be there for your kids. She really set the bar high. With that being said, as I now take on the role as guardian for my little sister, I am reaching out for your support.
