Nicolas Chavez Memorial Fund

Nicolas Chavez was one of the latest victims of police brutality in Houston, TX. Chavez was shot 24 times by HPD while battling a mental health crisis on his knees on April 21, 2020. Nicolas left behind a wife, a son, 2 daughters, 2 step daughters, a mother, a father, family and an entire community that continues to grieve his tragic loss. The community continues to stand in solidarity with the Chavez family as the family fights for justice and to ensure Nicolas is never forgotten.

A memorial was set up near the area where Nicolas was murdered (800 Gazin St. Houston, TX. 77020). The memorial means so much to the Chavez family as this memory provides peace, support, and hope in their quest for justice and honoring his precious life. Recently the family was asked by the restaurant management to remove the memorial. The memorial will be taken down on Saturday November 7, 2020 at 11:30 am and temporarily stored until funds are raised and another space is found.  The goal now is to relocate the memorial to another space within the same area or close by. In addition, the family would love to have a space to design a mural in honor of Nicolas's life. 

All donations raised will go to the Chavez family to assist with cost associated with the mural space and design. The Chavez family would like to thank everyone for their unwavering support, gifts, donations, and kindness during this time.
