Nicola's 10K Run in aid of St. Ita's Hospital
Donation protected
On the 27th of April 2022 I suffered an Ischemic Stroke. The weekend before this I had just ran my first 19km in preparation for my first half marathon. This resulted in me losing loss of function in the right side of my body and lack of speech. I spent over 10 months in hospital. My treatment began in CUH, then in UHL, then in St. Ita's Community Hospital Newcastle West before going for rehabilitation in the NRH in Dublin. After the NRH I progressively went back to work and took part in St. Camillus' Neurorehabilitation programme. I began not being able to walk and talk and now I am back to full time work and am running my first 10K! Every hospital played a massive role in my life and now I aim to raise money for St. Itas Newcastle West as this small community hospital played a very important role in my recovery journey.
