Nicky's Berlin Run - Esophageal Cancer Education

Tax deductible
Hi Everyone. My name is Nicholas Ferrara and my goal is to run 6 world marathons from Sept. 2021 to Nov. 2022. I will be running for a different charity in each of the races starting in Berlin and ending in New York. I have set each of the goals for 2,620 since each marathon is 26.2 miles.

For Berlin, I have chosen to run for the Esophageal Cancer Education Foundation. My father-in-law was diagnosed with esophageal cancer back in September of 2019 and would ultimately succumb to the disease on April 30th, 2021. He was one of the most important and influential people in my life and there is not a day that goes by I don't miss him. He was born in Italy but left home at the young age of thirteen when he took a job in Germany. He spent almost 10 years in Germany before he came to the United States and always spoke fondly of his time there. I always envisioned running this race and coming home to tell him about my adventure in Germany since he had so many. I can't do that now but I know he will be with me every step of the way on September 26th. Since this is my first marathon, which will always be a special moment for me, I wanted to run for the cause that means the most. It is fitting that the first one is in Germany and called the BMW Berlin Marathon since we both had and shared a love for BMWs. I love you and miss you Mr. C and I know you will guide me through the streets of Berlin on race day.
