The France family had a great start to 2020: Finding and moving into their dream home, Nicki’s career was finally taking off (8 years since becoming a working Mum), and the kids were settling into school really well.

Some niggling health issues affecting Nicki was the only worry the family had. Doctor’s visits and tests showed some oddities but no alarm bells were sounded. The first major COVID lockdown came and went, but Nicki's health issues persisted. In June, after following up again, Nicki was diagnosed with Breast Cancer. What followed that gut-wrenching diagnosis was a whirlwind of specialist appointments, scans and tests. The diagnosis was terrifyingly upgraded to Metastatic Breast Cancer, meaning the cancer had moved into Nicki’s lymph nodes and was now invading other parts of her body.

Nicki, her husband and their two kids now faced the stark reality that Nicki could have incurable cancer. Everything in their world needed to change immediately.
Calling on an amazing group of family and friends for support, Nicki was rushed into intensive chemotherapy sessions that ran for 18 weeks straight. The side effects of Chemo soon followed, often leaving Nicki exhausted and bed-ridden for days at a time. Working full-time became harder, and family life was also impacted. So far, the cancer has responded well to the intensive Chemo, significantly reducing in size. Nicki is now settling in to having 3 and 6 weekly treatments, aimed at stopping the cancer from spreading further. There is a long road ahead to overcome this awful disease.

Being diagnosed with Cancer changes your priorities in life. Nicki and her family are living "in the present" and to the fullest. Her progress is encouraging, but it has come at a price. Only being able to work part-time has used up nearly all of Nicki's leave, and her husband's holiday leave is steadily dwindling as they take this journey together.
The medical bills have arrived and are falling due. With everything 2020 has thrown at the France family, could you give your financial support as they focus on making the most of the precious time they have?

All monies raised will go directly to the France Family to alleviate financial stress caused by their limited ability to work and cover ongoing medical expenses.
Thank you for your love and support.
