Nicky Cantrell Needs Your Help

Donation protected

Who She is:
Nicky is the most beautiful and caring woman I know bar my own mother.
She cares for a husky named Wynter and a cat called Henry and, recently, she’s even found love after years of being stuck in abusive and toxic relationships.

Her boyfriend is James Green, who is currently serving in the armed forces. They met eachother through me and quickly became inseparable. Both provide eachother with what they need; as Nicky has for a long time needed someone who can make her feel safe, and James has been quietly suffering of loneliness for years... I don't doubt that the two will get married when he comes home...

She is also chronically ill and a chronic pain patient. She has been able to manage things for years with various forms of treatment...
Now, however, the pain is beginning to causing self harm and even suicidal ideation.

What she needs:

Nicky needs intranasal toradol for her debilitating migraines, which costs $1,100 USD.
This is the only thing the money will be spent on.

What we've ruled out, prior to writing this:
 - Intranasal toradol is not covered by her insurance and never will be, even with prior authorization - quotes from her pharmacist will be made available on request.

 - Tablet/pill form is not viable because she throws it up quickly and has issues with ulcers.

 - Injection/IV form is not viable because her body reacts to it poorly.

 - Going to the ER or urgent care repeatedly for Injection/IV form is also not viable because she does not have reliable transportation, and needs medication merely to travel in the first place.

 - She cannot take most painkiller medications as her body reacts poorly to them, due to mast cell activation syndrome.

 - Her boyfriend, who is also my best friend, is currently serving in the armed forces and won't be able to financially support Nicky until he comes home in July.

What She means to me:
For years, I've dealt with guilt over how I've acted towards people I cared for, and I'm not proud to admit that I have destroyed my own friendships in the past. For awhile I was mostly alone, having been driven into the computer to escape a broken family, only to repeat bad behaviors to the people I met online. For this reason, making friends was difficult while I battled my inner demons...
Until I met Nicky, who showed me how far I'd come from that.

The first time I met Nicky was on an online platform for roleplaying games; it started with us just writing stories about our characters going on adventures through a dark fantasy world.
We talked, in and out of character; shared stories of our lives as we were writing new ones together...
I told her about my failures, she told me about her abusive ex... We listened, we understood, we supported eachother. She told me that I never once raised my voice to her, or made her feel uneasy, or showed her anything but emphatic kindness and respect.

There are so many stories of Nicky, myself, James and others that I can happily share if anyone wants to hear more, but for now it will suffice to say that: Nicky is like a sister to me; I love her. That is what she means to me.

She is also chronically ill and a chronic pain patient.

Pain is bordering on causing self harm or suicidal ideation.

“It’s like someone taking hot metal… And pouring it into my skull. I’m dizzy. I’m nauseous. I’m seeing sparks everywhere. Sound hurts, light hurts, everything just hurts.”
 - Nicky

This pain is bordering on causing self harm and suicidal ideation. It is not a figure of speech when I say that her life is at risk because of this.

In at least one of these pictures, Nicky is experiencing pain; can you guess which one?

With a single prescription of intranasal toradol, Nicky's pain will be alleviated to manageable levels long enough for her boyfriend to come home and work up the money to support her from there. Here's a statement from James himself:

"Firstly, I humbly thank all the donations and support. My name is James Green, a Specialist in the US Army, Nicky's boyfriend.

I am currently deployed, due to operational security the location will remain undisclosed.
If you didn't know, the Army doesn't care until the tragedy's happened, moreover, they won't release me even if a tragedy does happen because the Army doesn't recognize "girlfriend" as a significant other.

Contrary to popular belief, soldiers aren't paid a whole lot and being overseas, I can't easily call my bank to manage transactions and account access. This [GoFundMe campaign] will help Nicky get the medication herself.

This medication will help get her through these migraines.
Getting through these migraines will prevent tragedy.

Most of all, preventing tragedy will ensure that I can return to the warmth of her smile and not the cold of a grave.

They say 'bring our troops home' and here I say, 'I'll come home, but make sure I come home to something good.' Again, thank you all.
Honestly, there's so much I can say, but I want to remain brief."
 - James Green

Please donate, just this one time. Nicky is used to pain by now, from people and from her medical problems - if she says it's too much for her to take, how long do you think you would manage?
