Nicks Run4TheKids ‍❤

Hi dearest friends and family,

For the past 2 years I have signed up to do Run4the Kids and for 2 years it's been cancelled due to COVID. This year I'm taking matters into my own hands and I'll be running on the weekend of the 20th November to raise awareness and money for kids with Epidermolysis Bullosa (EB) and the HeartKids Organisation.

My Kumić Gabriel was born with EB, a rare genetic condition that causes extremely fragile skin. The skin is so fragile that it can be injured very easily from heat, rubbing or bumps and grazes, even a task as simple as putting clothes on can result in open wounds. Because EB is so rare and affects less than 1 in 20,000 babies/children, help is not always available.

Mila Vincekovic was born on 27th March 2021 with a congenital heart condition which presented issues from the beginning. The lengthy stay at hospitals along with 2 months or surgery put a lot of pressure and stress on the family but Mila always had a smile on her face knowing that she was loved.

Sadly on May 2021 Mila's sweet heart gave up and she had to say goodbye to her family. Every day 8 babies are born with a heart defect in Australia and every week 4 of those babies say goodbye to their families.

2 children and families close to my heart need our help. Raising funds to donate to these two charities will help other families like this hopefully not suffer the same fate. Spread the word guys.

Which is why 50% of the money I raise will go towards EB Research Partnership Australia, which is the largest not-for-profit funding research aimed at treating and ultimately curing Epidermolysis Bullosa. And 50% will go to HeartKids. The only national not-for-profit organisation solely focused on supporting and advocating for all people impacted by childhood heart disease, one of the largest causes of infant death in Australia.

My plan is to run the base 15 km and for every $100 that is donated ill be running an extra 0.5km with a maximum distance of 45km.
