(This is Angela, Nick's sister)
On March 6th an explosion involving a tractor and a 200 gallon fuel tank occurred in Brookfield at Nick's home. The accident has left Nick (Blodgett) in the ICU at Brigham and Women's Burn Center in Boston, with burns on 70 to 80% of his body. He is currently in a medically induced coma as he begins months of surgeries. He will have as many surgeries as necessary to apply a temporary skin and then skin graphs. He will remain sedated until his body is ready to handle the stress it is under. IF his surgeries stay on course, he might be able to move to rehabilitation this summer. Rehabilitation will then be an even longer process. Nick has been a self employed truck driver and will not be able to return to that for a very long time, if ever. We are raising funds to help pay for family to be there with him, especially during this surgery period while he remains in critical condition, Boston is not a cheap place to stay! There will be mounting expenses for him as he is unable to work and pay his bills. The medical expenses will continue to build for years to come. We want him to be left with something and hope this can help.
