Nick's Legacy: Olivia's ACL Surgery
Donation protected
*You can't keep a good dog down!* Which is why I'm asking for your help with Olivia's ACL and meniscus surgery.
6 months ago, I very suddenly lost my boyfriend, Nick. In the wake of his death, I took in his beloved 4-year-old pup, Olivia, as my own. I wouldn't have had it any other way!
For anyone who knew Nick, Olivia was his baby! He *LOVED* this dog. He threw her birthday parties; setup a 2-way talk security device that dispenses treats when he was away at work; and he took her everywhere that dogs were allowed, from public beaches and parks to canine-friendly bars and festivals. They were completely inseparable and a lot alike: vibrant, adventurous, easy-going, and truehearted.
Olivia has been a welcomed addition to my family - I have one other dog, Aloha. They have been a beacon of light in my grief.
Unfortunately, Olivia has been showing signs of chronic injury. She has been periodically limping on her left leg for quite a while. I kept hoping she would get better. I even crated her for 2 weeks to see if her limp would improve, but to no avail. It has become undeniable that she is getting worse; she is limping more often and now with an audible click.
I took her in to the vet who diagnosed her with an ACL and meniscus tear. Her options are surgery, or be forced to live a sedentary life with progressive pain.
Olivia is only 4 years old. She is full of life, full of energy, and full of love. She loves to run, go for walks, play with Aloha.
I didn't have to think twice about my decision: Olivia WILL get the surgery!
Nick would have made the same decision.
As you can imagine, her surgery will be expensive and completely out of pocket. I don't know the full amount at the moment, but I can provide an update when I am quoted (and billed).
To those of you who offered prayers and help when Nick passed, I thank you from the bottom of my heart. In his memory, I ask for those again to support me through Olivia's surgery and post-op care.
To those who did not know Nick, thank you for taking the time to read my story.
Please HELP Olivia to get back on her feet!
