Nick's Heroic Act: Fund Ferguson's Recovery

Donation protected
Hi. My name is Julie Jones, and I am posting this page for a friend of mine, Nick Jones.

Nick and I are both truck drivers. On the 15th of July, we were talking on the phone about our assignments for the day when Nick noticed a deceased kitten in the road. Then he noticed a live kitten.

I listened as my friend stopped his 18-wheeler, bailed like it was on fire, and ran into traffic on a two-lane highway to scoop up this tiny little kitten. The little thing was in the middle of the road and was absolutely terrified. Nick got the kitten and got back in his truck.

The next thing I heard was Nick saying, "Ok, I got it. Oh fuck, now what do I do?"

Over the next few hours, Nick was able to get the kitten washed up at a truck stop with Dawn dish soap because he saw a flea or two. He was able to determine that Ferguson (the kitten's name) had a couple of scratches but looked okay. Nick also stopped at a Walmart (with an entire semi in tow, mind you) to buy kitten food and supplies.

Over the next handful of hours, Ferguson began to have trouble with his right front leg.

A vet appointment was made, and Nick's whole family has gotten in on rooting for this kitten that they have not met.

As of the writing of this (6/16 @1800), it appears that Ferguson has a broken arm and needs an amputation. He will also need routine kitten stuff like deworming and shots.

Nick has already fallen head over heels for this kitten. And I have to admit, this kitten does seem pretty special. Nick and his family are working hard to make sure little Ferguson gets the care he needs.

No, we don't know how this little baby (approx 6 weeks) ended up in the middle of a two-lane highway in Iowa. But he was there. He was scared. He was hurt. Basically the worst day of his life so far. But Nick saw him and put his own safety at risk to save this baby.

I am asking for small donations so that this family who is investing so much time and love into nursing this kitten back to health can have a little relief when it comes to the upcoming vet bills. No one is sure how much they are going to be yet. But this kitten has already suffered so much and deserves every chance we can give it. All money raised through this fundraiser will go to pay off those vet bills. If there is more money raised than is needed, the rest will be donated to a group that has done a lot of work helping kittens and cats who have had great medical needs.

Thank you for your consideration. Updates will be posted as I get them.
