I'm Marcel, Nick's cousin. I am setting this up on behalf of him and his parents, Tara and Ben. They got a call and flew down two weeks ago because he was in ICU and stayed for four days, then came home because we thought he was improving. Then last Saturday, Marcy was told they needed to get there right away because he was transferred to MUSC (Medical University of South Carolina) because his liver got worse and his kidneys were failing. They had to put him on dialysis and he is still on it. He was so critical that they moved him up on the list for a liver transplant and they drove Wednesday. Marcy, Ben, and Tara drove straight 12 hours to get to the hospital, spending 5 nights in a hotel with both of them taking leave from their jobs. Friday we were told they had a liver and Sunday he received it. Now that they are medical power of attorney, Marcy, Ben, and Tara will be renting a home to care for him once he is released. The plan right now is at least 6 weeks, with taking him to doctor's appointments, dialysis, and therapy. Life throws curveballs sometimes that you can't plan for; any donation would be greatly appreciated. The main goal is to get Nick better!
