Nick needs you: Treatment from CRPS and constant pain.
Donation protected
Nick is 36 years old, and for over a decade, he’s been living with Complex Regional Pain Syndrome (CRPS) — a condition that causes the most excruciating, burning pain imaginable. Often referred to as the most painful disease known to medicine, CRPS has turned Nick’s world upside down. It started in 2013 after a simple injury, and by 2016, it had progressed so severely that doctors had to amputate his leg above the knee to save his life. The recovery was grueling — emotionally, mentally, and physically. But through it all, Nick remained determined. He retrained as a welder, learned to walk with a prosthetic, and, despite the odds, created a life filled with joy, independence, and hope.
In early 2024, a work accident reignited Nick’s CRPS, and this time, the pain spread to his other leg and other parts of his body. The constant burning pain, constant swelling, and sensitivity have returned stronger than ever. The risk of loosing his remaining leg is great. There is no escape from the pain, it does not stop. Nick can no longer use his prosthetic and is now relying on a wheelchair for mobility. He is mostly home bound since he is unable to tolerate touch, a breeze, or the vibration of riding in a car. It’s been a heartbreaking setback, but the strength and resilience Nick has shown throughout this journey amazes me. His fight isn’t just physical — it’s deeply emotional, mental, and the daily focus. Despite everything, his compassion and spirit remain. He still has hope!
There is nothing worse than to see my son suffer, and know there is treatment out there that cures the root cause.
We’re asking for your help to support Nick in this next chapter. A move back to California will provide the family support and access to medical services that his current location simply doesn’t offer. He also needs wheelchair accessible housing. In addition, the biggest goal for Nick is pursuing a curative treatment for CRPS in Italy. This treatment is not available in the United States and is not covered by insurance. It’s expensive, but all things are possible. All donations will go toward adapting his living space for wheelchair access, adaptive devices, helping with the move to California, and covering medical/ transportation costs associated with this life-changing treatment opportunity in Italy. Nick is the strongest person I know, and he deserves a chance at healing, happiness, and a life where he can live without pain to truly live again. Your support means the world to us, and especially to Nick.
Thank you for considering any donation- every bit counts!
