Nick Knowlton - our American Idol
He’s made you laugh, cry, sing and dance and now he needs your help. Our dad, Daniel “Nick” Knowlton was recently diagnosed with Esophageal Cancer. So here we are again as a family faced with that ugly word…CANCER. As most of you know, it took our beautiful mom, Joye, in 2007. This time it’s trying to threaten our dad, but in all honesty, we are not sure it can beat his spirit! After being admitted in Florida for abdominal pain in December, the diagnosis came on 12/13/16, esophageal adenocarcinoma with metastasis to his liver and spine. PET scan results show it as a Stage 4.
Dad has the spirit and heart of a fighter but has a battle ahead of him with this being an aggressive form of cancer. He already has his feet on the ground and has taken off running with research and diet changes on the forefront. To say he is determined to beat this could very well be the understatement of 2017! He has a great caretaker & researcher with Mollie by his side. He and Mollie have visited a few cancer centers in Florida already, with one more to visit on Monday in Orlando. He is looking to start treatment quickly, but wants to find the right fit for him and his lifestyle. A combination of holistic and natural alternatives along with some medical procedures is the goal.
Dad isn’t the type of man to ask for help, he would give his last penny to a stranger before using it for himself but unfortunately expenses for work missed, travel and treatments will put a major burden on him financially. Any funds raised will help with medical and living expenses as he will likely be out of work for some time.
With a strong mind, attitude and the support of so many friends and family we know that he can and will beat this. Anything you can do to contribute is helpful. Let’s get our American Idol back on stage singing where he belongs!
