With the world shutting its doors during the pandemic, a big question floated over the arts community, “how will dance survive?” In response to this question, Nickerson-Rossi Dance made the decision to move to Palm Springs, California to become full-time community members and build a brand new dance facility. What started as a humble 2,000 sq ft building, the Palm Springs Dance Academy was born in 2020. Rapidly gaining momentum, Nickerson-Rossi Dance decided to take another leap of faith when the building next door became available - expanding the facility to 6,000 sq ft.
Nickerson-Rossi Dance produces the annual Palm Springs International Dance Festival and opened their theater doors to the community for their 2021 fall series festival, holding their first production in their new space - now being coined as the “Nickerson-Rossi Dance Theater.”

With limited resources, a small budget, a lingering pandemic, and blood, sweat, and (many) tears, Nickerson-Rossi Dance made what felt impossible - a reality.
We are now reaching out to the Coachella Valley Community Members to continue taking us to the next level by raising $50,000 for the Nickerson-Rossi Dance Theater Build-Out.
These funds will directly support the following
The Main Stage
$30,000
- Installation of Theater Lighting
- Raising the Ceiling
- Theater Seating
- Theater Curtain
Backstage
$15,000
- Connecting two rooms to create one large room
- Removal of Garage Door
- Bathroom Updates
- Supplies and Stations for Talent
Building Signage
$5,000
- Outdoor Electrical Sign
