Help Nick Return Home / Spinal Cord Injury

Eugenie & Lorenzo Eccleston (Parents); family and friends are organizing this             fundraising on behalf of Kylon “Nick” Gillings

                                       Category:  Medical, Illness, Healing

On August 15, 2020, Nick had gone out boating with some friends.  It was noon when Nick’s parents received the most devastating news a parent could imagined.  It was reported that Nick had been in a diving accident; transported to Ryder Trauma Center and already undergoing emergency surgery.  They waited 3-4 agonizing hours wondering if he would make it through surgery. He made it through surgery and before they could breathe a sigh of relief, more devastating news came the next day.  Nick had suffered a C-1 and C-2 Complete Spinal Cord Injury.  The doctors informed his mother that Nick would not be able to walk again and will need the assistance of a ventilator for the rest of his life.

Friends and family know Nick as funny and has an outgoing personality. He is fun to be around and full of life. Nick loves the water and he is an avid swimmer and diver. He enjoys spending time with his family and friends and he loves to dance. Who could imagine the impact and life changing events to follow?  Klyon Nicholas Gillings known as “Nick is 34 years old.  He graduated from Piper High School in 2004.  He graduated from the ABC Institute in 2009 as an electrician.  Nick had just started a new job two (2) weeks before the accident.

Nick is still in the ICU; He is alert, oriented and aware of his medical condition.  Although he is still intubated, he can communicate with his parents with his eyes and smile or lack of smile when the fight seems impossible.   His parents, family and friends are praying and holding on to every glimmer of hope that he will gain his mobility back. This is a devastating and life changing injury for Nick, his family, and friends.  The outcome of his injury is uncertain.  It is our hope that he will be able to go to a rehabilitation facility for spinal cord injury patients and then transition to home. As well as the medical expenses, major modifications to his home will be necessary for him to return which includes: building a ramp; modifying doorways; his bedroom and bathroom and providing a mode of transportation.  Nick will require 24 hour/7 days per week care.  Family and friends are inviting you to join us on our road to recovery donations journey.  To make this a successful venture, we need your love and monetary support.  Any donation would be greatly appreciated.

Please continue to pray for our loving family and friend Nick as he continues his fight to recover from this life changing event.

Due to Nick’s medical condition, Nick’s parents will be managing Nick’s care; making necessary modification to his home; overseeing his care and recovery.

Thank you for your support and your prayers.  Please share Nick’s story with your family and friends.
