Hi friends,
As many of you know, I'm making the decision to move back to Canada in August to escape the precarity of living in a foreign country and the darkening future of COVID in the US.
To do this I was reliant on my July pay and damage deposit from my current rental - without which I can't even pay for the gas necessary to start my trip, much less survive with rent and personal expenses when I arrive in Vancouver.
To my delight, my employer has declined to pay me for July and I have no reasonable recourse to get my damage deposit back from my current landlord. So I'm stuck with moving and new rental sunk costs, a mid August deadline staring me down and no credit to float me until I find my feet. I have no job lined up in Van and few prospects given the economic destabilization of the current moment.
I'm asking for 2000$ to help with travel, rental and living expenses to cover the move and the first month of my new life in Vancouver.
I know that's a large ask when everyone is also feeling the pinch. I'm extremely grateful for whatever help you all can offer in this stressful time.
Love,
Nick
