Nick's Big Fight

If you know Nick and Meg, you know that they--along with their kids--are a pretty special family. They are creative and passionate and so so loving.  Nick's creativity and passion for his work bringing children's favorite characters to life took the Hautmans to Minneapolis at the beginning of this year. Now, in their first year of marriage, Nick has been diagnosed with non-Hodgkin's lymphoma. The diagnosis and earliest treatment occurred while Nick was uninsured. He and his healthcare team are arranging to fight this head-on, but it's a rough road ahead. While Nick and Meg's families are prepared to help in whatever way they need us, the fact remains that Nick and Meg will have big needs over the next several months. Nick's sister and some of his extended family are in Minneapolis, so they have some help. It's the right place for them, but because no one can be there all the time, Nick and Meg's resources--especially terms of childcare and other supports--are limited. And though Nick's new health insurance started with the beginning of September, they have already amassed significant medical bills. For these reasons, I'm reaching out to ask for help for Nick and his family. Many needs can be addressed with financial support. Because Nick is the household's primary wage earner, this is the biggest need looking forward. Nick plans and wants to work, but some days he has been and will be unable. As Nick's treatment continues, other ways of assisting (like meal help) may surface as well.  Right now, Nick and Meg's biggest focus is (and should be) coordinating care and getting Nick well. Let's help them keep it that way. *In the interest of transparency to donors, Maureen (Kuhar) will help manage the funds and pay bills. Every dollar will go to help Nick and Meg.
