Nick Walters's recovery and Rehabilitation
Donation protected
Nick suffered from a severe stroke mid last week. It started with an all day long, severe, and unrelenting headache. It progressed and he got really bad. He woke up and was unable to move, and eventually he was able to sent a text to get help. When Mamaw got to him he was throwing up blood. The bleeding in his vomit is caused by multiple bleeding ulcers in his esophagus amd his stomach. Nick was then taken by Ambulance, and was admitted to Siloam Springs hospital. He was there for couple days undergoing CT scans and MRI, and then was taken to Washington Regional. He is awake and completely coherent and is doing alright. He is receiving medication via IV, and undergoing multiple tests. We do not know yet what the cause of his stroke was. He is able to move all his limbs. He is able to speak, though he is extremely hoarse, and quiet. He has suffered some vision issues, seeing things as blurry or double. He is currently completely unable to swallow. He is also having hiccup like convulsions in his throat that are driving him crazy. We are hoping and praying that he will recover the ability to swallow soon as its obviously a major hurdle. IT IS VITAL that he be financially able to be accepted into a rehabilitation center, because without it his rehabilitation of his motor skills, mobility and speech his recovery will be compromised. In the meantime, they have put on a feeding tube, so that he can recieve nutrition that way. He has a long road to recovery, and there are still several unanswered questions. We don't know what kind of time line hes looking with recovery, but he will require extensive physical and speech therapy. I am setting up a go fund me page with his, and his families blessing. This will be used to help with the massive medical bills he is accumulating as he has no insurance due to losing his job due to covid. He also needs help Costly medical care and rehabilitation after he is able to be released from the hospital.
